I had double cheese burger for dinner. That means a double-the-fun yet double-the-cholesterol meal. Weirdly, every time I eat one, the urge to write comes as a divine force. Divinity, for me, is all about accepting something you don’t really expect at all. It is something that you know you don’t deserve but accepts it anyway because you feel it gives a burden on your name. I pull my inspiration to write from this elysian force so that all my brains would work. Amen to you, dear cheeseburger. Anyway, I already have a job–but I won’t talk about it here because I believe that this matter deserves a separate entry. What I want to write about is a crystallization of all the learnings I imbibed during the painfully long process of job hunting.

Finally, a new blog post after some long, almost-irritating inactivity. There are a lot of things my mind needs to process right now but I think I need to update this blog I hid six feet under. Hello, world. I am officially a bachelor’s degree holder–and I got it from the country’s premiere state university. And yes, this brag sounds better when you have successfully endured four years of academic torture. College graduation is okay. When I describe something with “okay”, it just means I can’t get a (better) term to describe it. Seriously, it was fun, solemn. The solemnity peaked when my college peers and I sung UP Naming Mahal with our left arms doing that famous revolutionary choreography. Most of us sung it without enough conviction (first time much?) but I believe most of us sung it as if we’re carrying the nation’s burdens (read: plural). That felt good–realizing that you have the ability to help the country feels good.

Yesterday was a Friday the 13th and I sure experienced what it wanted to offer. One of my classes (which I already enrolled and paid for) was dissolved by the department due to the below-minimum number of enrolees. I had to transfer to another class which has a conflict with another class. So, I have to cancel that another class—But when I cancel that another class, I have to find an alternative. And oh, both classes are already full so I have to undergo a very bureaucratic process. All in all, in UP speak, I had to Change Matriculation and Add Slot. Oh well, at least I survived wandering towards my enrolment for my last semester in UP Manila.

Most of my recent (an overstatement) entries here at my personal blog were mere links or teasers for my academic blog entries. This is reflective of the fact that I don’t have a personal life since most of my hours were spent for the thing called academics. Now I feel the pressure to tell stories I weren’t able to tell during my leave of absence. To lessen my thinking time (because my crazy brain is tired), I will be posting pictures and I will be telling a short story behind each image.

Sagot sa kahirapan: Digmaang Bayan.

When we went to UP Diliman for the Philippine Intercollegiate Debate Championship, my teammates and I saw this activist vandalism written on the chalkboard of one of the classrooms in Palma Hall. :o

I am so happy today since I am about to finish all the exams that we would be having before the semester officially ends. I could say that this is the hardest semester ever. From the overloaded planners to unplanned overnight stays at Irish’s house, this semester was really exhausting. Let’s take a look how toxic did my subjects get during this semester.

For privacy purposes, I will only entitle a selected few to view this entry. http://alps05.multiply.com/journal/item/2/The_End_But_Not_Yet

A law degree can be a passport to becoming a public defender, an opinion writer, a politician or a judge. But whatever kind of work one decides to pursue, the challenge is in keeping one’s ideals, integrity, honor and reputation intact.

WHAT IS THE LAW?

Laws are generally passed by the legislature. However, proclamations and executive orders issued by the President; rules and regulations implementing certain laws promulgated by the government agencies concerned, and Jurisprudence, otherwise known as decisions of the Philippine Supreme Court, are likewise considered as part of the laws of the land. Sometimes, we also have to look at the Supreme Court decisions of the United States of America to address certain issues which may arise before the Courts, when no law or Philippine jurisprudence is squarely in point, and these U.S. decisions may then be quoted as part of our jurisprudence. Notably, in libel cases. Of course the basic law of all is the Constitution.
