It has been a while since the latest craze finally came to an end, with the bigger David pronounced as this season’s American Idol with 12 million votes ahead from Archuleta. Now everyone has his or her own blog entry about the just-out-of-the-oven news, but I would be having a different approach. If you think about it, Cook’s being ahead by 12 million votes tells us that he is no doubt THE American Idol. But for some days before the final results night, all are having this assertion that it would be hard to tell who would be the successor of Jordin Sparks. Add to the fact that Simon Cowell, during the final performance night, stabbed Cook (in his long-faced front) in favor of Archuleta. But hey, being ahead by 12 million votes speaks for itself. And why did it happen?

Here we go again, Hypotheses Building :P

  1. I have read in multiple blogs that both Davids have their respective audience share. Archuleta has the tweenies and high school fans. Cook, on the other hand, has the college and the people-who-likes-mature-music fans. But I believe that the latter demographical nature would be the one who would most likely dial those 1-800-xxx-xx-xx hotlines, am I right?
  2. During the final performance night, Cowell obviously told the whole wide world that the final bout is a knockout, in favor of the little David. I believe that the Cook-ies panicked, untiringly dialing those numbers for Cook. Funny it may seem, but it is not far from possible. A tenet of this hypothesis is this: Archuleta’s fans may have become more relaxed and confident due to the belief that Cowell’s comments would really correspond to number of votes garnered by both finalists, in other words, Archuleta would win.
  3. Lastly, let’s now go to how the critics and the fence sitters would react. These are the people who are neither fans nor detractors of the finalists, they are the ones who think logically, the ones who think that fans are the most illogical people in the world. Haha, it is hard to believe that they exist, but they do! Examples could be the people behind the music industry like producers, music directors, etc. I believe that these people would be more likely voting for Cook since they have this philosophical belief of seniority-slash-maturity rule. Cook could more likely handle the pressure of the industry, add to the fact that Cook had an experience of independent musical productions. I know, this last hypothesis has a (much) lesser gravity as compared to the first two above, but I believe this is considerable.

So these are possible grounds for the almost unbelievable Cook’s-winning-by-12-million-votes phenomenon. And yeah, the last and most important hypothesis could be this: Cook has much more fans, that simple. :P
